Well first of all since you didn't even bother to mention what interface there's not much we can tell you and second of all bt3 final has been out for quite some time. You should be using that.

I jus bought this laptop and have it triple booted with ubuntu vista and BT2
whenever i do an ifconfig or iwconfig i do not get any interfaces. am i forgetting to do something? why would it not recognize my interfaces? any help will be much appreciated.
