    That's what I said.
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69

You've attached both a directional and an omni to the same antenna port?

    To be clear:
    1. Replacing an omni with a direction is completely doable, although there are some requirements to doing it correctly.
    2. Adding a splitter will not work.

no i just attached the grid antenna to the repeater and removed the omni antenna and i can pick up the signal perfect so i now know that a directional antenna does work on a universal repeater

But that is not what the OP has asked. He clearly stated he wanted to split one antenna connection to two antennae.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

That was not the question that Barry or I answered.

The problem with your original question is this:

and if so how would i rebroadcast the signal?
That's the issue that caught our attention.
