The card they mean is the AWUS036H
Hi, I was hoping that someone could advise me.
I want to take this couse - Offensive Security Wireless Attacks", also known as "BackTrack WiFu"
The URL says I should use this card - ALFA Networks USB 500mw (USB wireless Adapter capable of Injection)
There are 2 of them on Amazon - I want to know if they are both the same and if they both will work with the course. I want the one recomened to use with the WiFu course
Alfa Wireless-N 500mW 802.11n high power Wireless USB adapter With Antenna and Mount LINK
USB 500mW WiFI Adapter for Wardriving & Range Extension LINK
This one says "Packet Injection in Linux" and I think it is the correct one?
Thanks
The card they mean is the AWUS036H
The N cards use a different chip set then the G cards. They use Ralink RT2770 RT2750 chip sets, now I don't know if this is compatible or not, I haven't checked, but it is something to watch out for. The newest N card that claims to be 2000mw uses a RT3070 chip set.
ALFA Network – WLAN, WiFi phone, ADSL, KVM, Bluetooth, PoE Products -- AWUS050NH
you could use the alfa awus036h.
I use it and It work's for any attack available![]()
The AWUS036H is sweet and also works well with the bt4 final VMware image, which is nice cause you might want to take some of the other classes which require you to run VMware.
