    Default Synaptic Package Manager

Is there any way to install Synaptic Package Manager in backtrack 3.0? I am a complete noob at this so any help would be appreciated. I try to do the normal configure, make, make install, but when i try configure it says that i need to install xmlit i think, i will have to check. when i try to install that, it makes a make file, but then prints some code and stops. Can anyone help me with this?

    thx

Slapt-get (a Slackware version of apt-get) is more commonly used with Slackware based systems.
You can install that very simply. In fact, FastTrack will even install it for you.

When asking for help, please try to make your posts as specific and detailed as possible.

    is less than helpful.......
