    K look, I know that I'm going to get pounded for not "Using search engines" or "Not searching the forums" but I HAVE.

    All I need is a tutorial for Metasploit (2/3) in Backtrack 3 that makes sense. I'd like it if someone could give me a description of the commands.

    I tried an online tut that got me lost at stuff like LHOST, LPORT, RHOST, and RPOT.

    Please help!
    --THANK YOU!

    Also, there are no certain specified attacks, anything is ok. I have a WinXP laptop that I can perform these penetration tests on.

    Anyone that can help?

    LHOST=Local host IP
    LPORT=Local host port number
    RHOST=Remote host IP
    RPORT=Remote host port number

    You give no details of open ports and/or running services which is why it is hard to suggest any specific attack. Have you tried out the autopwn function which will automatically try a slew of different attacks against the host? It can for example easily be launched from within Fast-Track.

    Yes, I knew about that, its just that somehow "quote" got clicked twice, opening up two new replies. Don't ask how.

    Also, Tron, thank you, I will give that a try right now.

    Try searching scribd for books on metasploit:
    http://www.scribd.com/search?query=metasploit

    There are quite a few good books which deal with metasploit.
    Gray Hay Hacking; http://books.google.com/books?hl=en&...ay+hat+hacking
    Metasploit Toolkit; http://books.google.com/books?id=bzZ...sploit+toolkit

    Security Power Tools; http://books.google.com/books?id=WHc...ty+power+tools
    Metasploit Framework Users Guide; http://www.radarhack.com/dir/papers/...r_dummiesl.pdf.
    To name just a few.
