Sniffing traffic between AP and Client.

Hi,

I want to know is it possible to sniff network traffic between Access Point and a connected client.

e.g. The user has WEP. The key has been found and the intruders can connect to the AP.

Thus, is it possible for them to sniff everything between the client and the AP including MSN chat conversations, http requests and so...

Which tool is used for this job.

SO your trying to look over your Girlfriend??? It's called a monkey in the middle hack if i'm not mistaken... if you have windows i believe cain and abel will do the job.... Airbase-ng... will that do it??? Hmm... I'm intrested aswell...

Wireshark CAN be used. you even can configure the WEP key there to decrypt the packages.............

Cain & Abel would sniff passwords, not MSN Messenger chats; Wireshark will do, but for improved ease of use on Windows an attacker might use DataEcho; DataEcho rebuilds all http traffic so that you can see what pages have been visited, all MSN Chat is transits on http so can be seen as a single page with all the converstion. Pcap files captured can be passed to DataEcho too, and images can be included/resolved or filtered out.

This is a tool that can be used to show how important securing your network is, people rarely imagine how much can be seen simply getting on their network.
