Are you reading entire threads or do you have a selective perception?

It has been answered in this thread already.

    Try a
    wget http://cpan.org/modules/by-module/Da...mp-1.14.tar.gz

    or

cpan Data:: Dump (without the blank, just added it to not have a smiley in the command. This will install the module automatically)
    then.

And yeah sorry, you are right. Just saw that there is a URL and assumed it is the correct one.

    ^^np,

Now i get this, even when i change it to "data:dump"

    "wget http://cpan.org/modules/by-module/Da...mp-1.14.tar.gz
    --2009-04-07 05:50:56-- http://cpan.org/modules/by-module/Da...mp-1.14.tar.gz
    Resolving cpan.org... 66.39.76.93
    Connecting to cpan.org|66.39.76.93|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found
    2009-04-07 05:50:57 ERROR 404: Not Found."

    and:
    "................................................. ............DONE
    Fetching with LWP:
    http://www.perl.org/CPAN/modules/03modlist.data.gz
    Going to read /root/.cpan/sources/modules/03modlist.data.gz
    .................................................. ..........................DONE
    Going to write /root/.cpan/Metadata
Warning: Cannot install data-dump, don't know what it is.
    Try the command

    i /data-dump/"

Well as for the wget, the forum formatted the url. Just click on it and download it in your browser or copy the link location.

As for the cpan command, you have to type it as I wrote it, it is case sensitive.

And without the space, just added it to prevent a smiley to be generated.

Haahahaha that's gotta be a joke right? You understand that wget is doing a web request (hence the HTTP protocol specification in the URL). Of course you noticed that .gz is NOT a valid TLD.

Maybe we can get one of the mods to shorten "n00b_h4xx0r" to just "n00b".
I'm a compulsive post editor, you might wanna wait until my post has been online for 5-10 mins before quoting it as it will likely change.

I know I seem harsh in some of my replies. SORRY! But if you're doing something illegal or posting something that seems to be obvious BS I'm going to call you on it.

Then, in my defense, you cant be serious about that post, right?
No, im not used to linux, and no i dont really understand all commands in bt including wget. I do as im being told, by ppl who know more than me. And if you want to discuss this topic i suggest you read the whole thread, use your social engineering skills (if you got some) and try to understand that it actually was a missunderstanding.

Are you telling me that you knew everything, all commands in linux the first day you started using it?

He, who helped me also told me in the beggining that the url was here, therefore i beleived in his greater knowledge and just tried it out?

Maybe, one day your genius brain will figure out Why my name actually is n00b_h4xx0r?

Nope, but I was able to read and make simple deductions like HTTP == web request, .gz != TLD, tar.gz == gzip'd tarball, etc. Things that might prevent us from poking fun at your use of h4xx0r whether self admittedly newb'ish or not.
