How do I install tar package using Shell Konsole?

Hello, when I was trying to crack my own WEP password, I type the line :

airmon-ng start eth1

and I get the following error :

please download and install iw from the following link

Okay, I have downloaded the file, now I need to know how to install it, PLEASE someone explain. Thanks, I have searched a lot and not figured out how to install iw .

For future reference it would be nice if you actually told us what make and model of wireless card you are using. I am however going to use my psychic powers this time and assume that you have an Intel 4965 card. If that is the case I believe that you will have to update the kernel in BT3 to get full support for your card. This is no easy task for someone new to Linux, and honestly I would advice you to simply get a card that is supported out of the box in BT3.

Yes, search the forum, this has been covered. Google even returns some results :
Are you having trouble with monitor mode? Or injection?
I have 3945 chipset, I just open konsole:
Grab the AP info and set the card for injection:

 airodump-ng wlan0
modprobe -r iwl3945
modprobe ipwraw
macchanger --mac xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx wifi0

Then once you have the WEP, use:

modprobe -r ipwraw && modprobe iwl3945

[heimdal]

Try tar -xvzf filename . Then cd into the new directory and follow the instructions from a file called README. You should also read man tar. Good luck, Kurt
