Default Alfa & 9 dBi antenna & 9-metre antenna lead

Yesterday I bought an Alfa along with a 9 dBi omnidirectional antenna and a 9-metre-long antenna extension lead. I should have it in a week or two, I'll let you know how I get on

I'm gonna get a Helium balloon to pull the aerial up into the sky from the roof of my house. The extension lead for the aerial is 9 metres long, so if you add that to the height of a two-storey house then that's pretty high

What kind of cable is this 9meter lead?
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

    Hopefully lmr-400 or better.
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69

    Got it yesterday.

The 9-metre-long lead has a little bit more loss than I was hoping for but the end product is that I can communicate with a network that I previously was unable to.

    Decent choice of cable.

Give this link a shot: http://www.ocarc.ca/coax.htm

You'll see that even under the best conditions, you're losing a lot of your antenna's gain in the cable. That's assuming a 1.1:1 VSWR with only 2 connections, (one on each end).
