    Default Wep-psk

    Good day everybody,

I am trying to crack a wifi network at my place. I passed by the MAC filtering by changing my MAC to one authorized by the AP. I have injected packets and captured enough packets (roughly 4 millions). When I run aircrack-ng, it finds a WEP key.

Altough when I try to connect with an authorized MAC, it doesn't work because it says the network has PSK auth.

I tought PSK was only for WPA although this is not WPA because I found a WEP key.

How can I connect to this network considering I have the WEP key and an authorised MAC although it has PSK auth ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Antoine

PSK is for WPA / WPA2

Do you ever get this message during the cracking process??>>>

    15:46:53 Sending Authentication Request
    15:46:53 AP rejects open-system authentication
    Please specify a PRGA-file (-y).

If so..thats Shared key authentication..and yes its WEP

theres 2 types of authentication concerning WEP..

    • Open System Authentication allows any device to join the network, assuming that the device SSID matches the access point SSID. Alternatively, the device can use the “ANY” SSID option to associate with any available access point within range, regardless of its SSID.
    • Shared Key Authentication requires that the station and the access point have the same WEP key to authenticate.

PSK "pre-shared keys" are WPA and WPA2 specific..no WEP has PSK's.

    Code:
Do you ever get this message during the cracking process??>>>

    15:46:53 Sending Authentication Request
    15:46:53 AP rejects open-system authentication
    Please specify a PRGA-file (-y).
Nope, when I try to authenticate, it works perfectly fine... If it's shared key authentication, does that mean that each station requires a different WEP key ? What changes ?

Also, is it possible for aircrack to find a key that is wrong altough it says "Possibility : 100%" ?

I am pretty confused with this but I'ill try a few other things in the waiting.

Can you post some screenshots or a small video?? Particularly one of airodump and this network... and your aireplay-ng attack messages..and your aircrack-ng messages??

I'll need these and your connection attempt messages to better help you diagnosis whats going on here.

sorry Xploitz but WEP does have PSK (in a way).

WEP will show PSK in the AUTH colume on the airodump-ng screen, when a client is associating.
When the client has successfully associated with the AP, the PSK changes to SKA.
