ran kstartupconfig and get error,
/usr/lib/libgcc_s.so.1: version 'GCC_4.2.0' not found (required by /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6)
In case anyone else is looking for the file in question:
xxx://slackware.oregonstate.edu/pub/slackware/slackware-12.1/slackware/d/gcc-g++-4.2.3-i486-1.tgz
Replace xxx with ftp

Im trying to do fixes from the command line as flubox isnt comming up for previous issue.
I tried to ftp to the oregonstate ftp to get the 4.2.3 file but its giving me no such file or directory.
( [xxx://slackware.oregonstate.edu/pub/slackware/slackware-12.1/slackware/d/gcc-g++-4.2.3-i486-1.tgz where xxx is ftp)
will this not work from the command line after logging in ?
Make sure you have a internet connection.
By default after login inet is not enabled (at least for me)
Edit:
Sry, I've overread that , sounds link inet is running , otherwise there won't be this error.its giving me no such file or directory
Edit2:
Maybe try this one: http://packages.slackware.it/package...+-3.4.6-i486-1 (pick another mirror)
Be sensitive in choosing where you ask your question. You are likely to be ignored, or written off as a loser, if you:
* post your question to a forum where it's off topic
* post a very elementary question to a forum where advanced technical questions are expected, or vice-versa
* cross-post to too many different newsgroups
* post a personal e-mail to somebody who is neither an acquaintance of yours nor personally responsible for solving your problem
I can ping google.com so I know tyhe internet connection is up.
Can I use wget form command line ?

In order to use a newer version of gcc you must switch to the new config file. I'm not sure about backtrack however thats how it is in most other major distros.
I got it sorted.
Installed using midnightnight commander to connect to the oregonstate ftp site.
After installing the gcc 2.3.3 version kde4 and flubox both run.
Yihaaa !!!!!!
thanks all for assistance.
Got it workin' in VMware version, got to make a USB version of the VM one to confirm it's working to 100%
