In case anyone else is looking for the file in question:

    xxx://slackware.oregonstate.edu/pub/slackware/slackware-12.1/slackware/d/gcc-g++-4.2.3-i486-1.tgz

    Replace xxx with ftp

Default ran the script and now even more broke

    Flubox and kde not starting.

    ran kstartupconfig and get error,
/usr/lib/libgcc_s.so.1: version 'GCC_4.2.0' not found (required by /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6)

    Default also oneother question

Im trying to do fixes from the command line as flubox isnt comming up for previous issue.

I tried to ftp to the oregonstate ftp to get the 4.2.3 file but its giving me no such file or directory.

( [xxx://slackware.oregonstate.edu/pub/slackware/slackware-12.1/slackware/d/gcc-g++-4.2.3-i486-1.tgz where xxx is ftp)

will this not work from the command line after logging in ?

Make sure you have a internet connection.
By default after login inet is not enabled (at least for me)

    Edit:
its giving me no such file or directory
Sry, I've overread that , sounds link inet is running , otherwise there won't be this error.

    Edit2:

Maybe try this one: http://packages.slackware.it/package...+-3.4.6-i486-1 (pick another mirror)

wget is a command line program, so you should be able to..

In order to use a newer version of gcc you must switch to the new config file. I'm not sure about backtrack however thats how it is in most other major distros.

    I got it sorted.

Installed using midnightnight commander to connect to the oregonstate ftp site.

After installing the gcc 2.3.3 version kde4 and flubox both run.
