BT2 Java update

Hi everyone,

first off pardon my spelling I am french.

I'm a new Linux user and I managed to get up and running with almost every thing, thanks to this wonderful forum (good community) but now it's seems i'm stump with java update to V6.

I downloaded jre-6u7-linux-i586.bin to /usr
cd /usr
chmod +x jre-6u7-linux-i586.bin
./jre-6u7-linux-i586.bin

I went thru the installation process with no problems.
now I see the installation directory (jre1.6.0_07) with all the files there.

but went I check the java version i still get....

t ~ # java -version
java version "1.5.0_08"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_08-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_08-b03, mixed mode, sharing)

What i'm I doing wrong?
I can't run Sham's aircrack updater without this upgrade!

I went up and down this forum with no luck, nothing on google either.

I'm at a lost, help.
