    Default Changing /var/tmp folder location?

    Hey!
    i think that this is common headache for thoes who play around with their liveCD's and dictionarys.

    problem is this:

    bt / # split --bytes=100m /mnt/hdc1/pass/dictionary.txt wordlist_part
    split: wordlist_partaf: No space left on device

    My dictionary is 4.2GB (all garbage taken away, clones, MIN and MAX lenght also)

    How do i change my temporary folder to my HDD? i tried to find solution for this but failed, only managed to find IT-resource center forums saying about:

    "in your $HOME/.exrc file, put a line like the following:
    directory=/wherever/you/want"

    i tried so search for exrc file with no succeed.

    i'm so frustrated so i decited to bring my problem as topic (didnt see similiar topics?)

    Thanks on front!

    Why do you not simply specify another output folder, one with enough space for your files, for example another HDD (hda2):
    Code:
    split --bytes=100m /mnt/hdc1/pass/dictionary.txt /mnt/hda2/wordlist_part
