Default bt3 install on tablet with no cd drive

i am trying to dual boot ubuntu 8.04 and backtrack 3
my only problem is that i cannot seem to get my bios to boot off a usb stick
it seems toshiba will only support certain toshiba brand devices!
    so my question is:
is there any way i can install it from within ubutnu or at least get it to boot from within ubuntu?
i am at a bit of a loose end here and any help would be good!
    thanks

An external optical drive comes to mind here but there shouldn't be any reason you can't boot from via USB. Look for a BIOS flash perhaps that enables said boot option or procure an authorized thumbdrive.
