I was previously using my internal ipw2200 card with bt2 final, because I needed better range I decided to buy the Alfa 500mw usb adapter with the optional 9dbi omni antenna from data-alliance.

The card works fine with bt2 but it suddenly turns off in windows xp after a few minutes. Also, I'm getting the same range with the 9dbi antenna when I scan using kismet or airodump-ng.

I have tried searching for a solution but no luck.I know quite a few people have this card here and I was wondering whether someone knows whats causing it. The Alfa card is plugged into a pcmcia usb adapter, Could this be the problem?
