    Default [wlan0]: host name lookup failure please help

    hi

    I am using awus 036h usb wireless adapter.
    I am new to bt3 i am trying this command

    ifconfig down [interface] and i get

    [wlan0] : hostname lookup failure

    why is this? what am i doing wrong?

    also when i do the next command

    macconfig --mac 00:11:22:33:44:66 [wlan0]

    i get macconfig command not found

    That would be because there's no executable in your $PATH with the name macconfig. You probably wanted to use macchanger.
    I'm a compulsive post editor, you might wanna wait until my post has been online for 5-10 mins before quoting it as it will likely change.

    I know I seem harsh in some of my replies. SORRY! But if you're doing something illegal or posting something that seems to be obvious BS I'm going to call you on it.

    the command is called macchanger, not macconfig.
