    Default what operative system has backtrack??

    Hi,
    What operative system is backtrack on? Is it based on Linux 2.4
    or something else?
    I am trying to install it on virtualbox but it does nnot work.

    Well, BackTrack is based on Slax, which in turn is based upon Slackware.
    These are examples of the Gnu/Linux operating system.

    BackTrack uses the 2.6.x kernel.

    There are guides in the "tutorials" section dealing with running BT in a virtual machine.

    Hopefully this has given you some starting points for some research?
