Wireless + Firmware ??

Preface: I got a new notebook that I am loading BT on.. It is a
HP Mini 110-1116NR

It has 3 forms of networking: Bluetooth, Wireless b/g, Lan

I have the Lan working, Bluetooth I haven't looked at.. So the Wifi

I followed this section b43 - Linux Wireless and went through all of that.. I am kinda new to linux, and am missing a good explanation on how firmware works in linux. So i may be missing a step, tho I am aware i am missing something since I still cant get iwconfig to show that I have any card install, from which I understand is a PCI-E.

So. Thought?

sounds like a headache to use as your only tool tho.
I would just get myself a usb dongle, Alfa AWUSO36H, and save myself a world of frustration.

I found and tried to go through this: HOWTO: Use b43 driver with 14e4:4315 (Broadcom bcm4312 rev 01) - Ubuntu Forums

and it broke my BT pretty hard.. Had issues through updating kernel.. Which I was hoping would work and be straight forward.. Ya not so much. So am on the right track? should I be trying to upgrade the kernel, when will the newer kernel be official through the backtrack apt-get distro??

Broadcom adapters are widely known for they lack of support. I think you're better off just buying a new USB or PCI-E adapter, you can find very cheap ones on the Internet. Just make sure to check if the chipset is fully compatible with injection and read some reviews before you actually buy it.
Obviously, if you still want to "fight" with the card, you're free to do so. But I hardly believe you will be able to make it work, since most of the threads I saw about broadcom adapters never ended with a happy face.

I am at work right not so unable to confirm this but I could have sworn that my old eeepc 701 had a broadcom wireless card and there was a modified madwifi driver that allowed the use of the broadcom. only link I find online right now to it referrs to a madwifi.tgz that was located on the offensive-security.com domain. and when I used it it allowed the system to not just get up and going on the internet but to also was able to inject and monitor as well.
