Broadcom 4310 rev 01 -- does it work?

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 series (specifically, a dv6830us). It has a BCM4310 wireless card, and I'm wondering if it works. I've tried BackTrack, and I've tried to get the card working, but I can't seem to get it initialized or find any networks. I've looked online for information about this cards support for BackTrack, but I can't find much.

lspci gives me this:
02:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4310 USB Controller (rev 01)

Can someone point me in the right direction to get this working? Is it even supported? Thanks. =)

I've continued my search, but I'm still unable to find much info. I'm somewhat of a newb when it comes to these things, but I have a modest Linux background

Hi!
First off, im a total linux noob but i try.

I also have the broadcom 4310 usb controller in my new laptop, and i tried to get the new linux drivers going following this: http: // www . broadcom.com/docs/linux_sta/README.txt

However i cant get the part with building the LKM. It wont execute.

guess you have to change a thing or two when you use backtrack3 for this but i cant figure it out, any help is much welcome.

Visit this site for more info on that useless piece of shit broadcom cards.you need to ugrade your kernel to minimum 2.6.24 or above.

find Dr. Green tutorial for kernel recompiling and to add extra patches along with ext4 support on the forum.if you advanced enough only then play with kernel recompiling.better test it using vmware or virtual server whatever u use.

Yeah, i have seen that page in my search for a working solution.
But on the pages i referred to in my previous post it says you are supposed to "unload" them when you have the new driver, or so i think

Is it possible to use backtrack3 to "build an LKM" of this driver?:

and how do i do it? following the instructions on the broadcom site doesnt work.

or is it even possible for someone else with backtrack3 to "build the LKM" and then i can use it?

After a little research I got the broadcom 4310 working on backtrack3.

What i did was i stumbled on a post in the forum on how to add a kernel file to make a makefile cant seem to find it now so i can link

anyway, surfing the net goes smooth even tho wireless assistant tells me i get disconnected immidietly on connect but i remain connected.

Now here is my problem: airodump-ng eth1 gets me this
ioctl(STOCSIWMODE) failed: invalid argument
ARP linktype is set to 1 (Ethernet) - expected ARPHRD_IEEE80211,
ARPHRD_IEEE80211_FULL or ARPHRD_IEEE80211_PRISM instead. Make sure rfmon is enabled: run 'airmon-ng start eth1 <#>'
Sysfs injection support was not found either.

what does this mean?
