there are many great tutorials on a usb install on this forum click here to learn more
I am trying to get a bootable copy of BT3 working from a new USB key (8Gb), To save myself time I decided to try and set it up in xp (just run the .bat). I formatted it, extracted the iso to the USB key, ran the .bat.
However when I now try this on the computer I am trying to use BT3 on it just says "operating system not found". This is obviously after I have hit the boot menu and chosen from the USB key.
Am I being stupid?

I have already searched the forum for help, as well as google. But it just seems to advise me to do what i have already done or do it in linux.
Does anyone know whats wrong?
ive got the same problem
the batch file to install the os on the drive wont run in vista or linux. i dont have an XP instal.
I cant get it to boot off the USB HDD without running that batchfile.
it doesnt take account of vista User account control so the batchfile works but vista wont let it run other exe's as admin.
im gpoing to try going to eah file in the batch file and setting them to run as admin in their properties
Thanks to everyone who has contributed towards bt3 and all the other great tools within it, especially shamanvirtuel, spoonwpa is just awesome to a noob like me. hope you find somewhere to live.
I have set up a couple in Vista now with no problems.
Copy the folders to the USB Device, open the command line as administrator, then navigate to the bat file on the usb drive and execute it.
Works fine for me.
have you turned off UAC then ?
im not doing that

Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69
