I have the same card and have had issues with the same error while trying to switch to monitor mode. I suggest you take a look at ez-pawn:
hxxp://ezpawn.googlecode.com/files/ezpawn-beta1.lzm
coded by shamanvirtuel, a member here. A really fantastic tool for noobs like us. One of the nice additions is a monitor mode tool for your card. Make sure you set your default card before you start messing with things.
The one thing I'm still trying to figure out is how to get back to managed mode from the toolbar. If you figure it out, lemme know. Otherwise, do what I do. Open a terminal window and type
then check to make sure you're bck in managed mode with ifconfig.Code:#ifconfig wifi0 up #wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0
P.S.- if someone knows the commands for switching back and forth between managed and monitor mode, let us know!
