Help installing 3945 driver in Back Track 3
Hi, newbie here. I have managed the following so far. Put BT3 on a 1G USB drive. Boots into BT3 normally. Now here is my problem, I have a laptop that uses the troublesome Intel 3945. I have downloaded the proper driver 'ipwraw-ng2.0.0-10072007.tar.tar' and saved in on a cd-r. My question is, how can I unzip and install this properly WHILE I AM IN BT3? PLEASE GIVE STEP BY STEP COMMANDS. Thanx in advance all your help.
The intel ipw3945 is already loaded on BT3. Along with the ipwraw modules.
I use the command:
modprobe -r iwl3945 (this will unload iwl3945)
modprobe ipwraw (this will load ipwraw for packet injection)
once you get done with that then do
modprobe -r ipwraw (to unload packet injection)
modprobe iwl3945 (to load the original mod)
also in case you didnt know you cant surf the internet while in monitor mode.
Let me know if you get it working.
The command provided by Musashi does the job, however, I can't get injection and data increasing at all with LiveCD Backtrack 3.

just tested this on my brothers asus laptop, and it worked great, only had time to test it with spoonwep2 and spoonwpa, both working.
used this to get the card to inject
modprobe -r iwl3945 && modprobe ipwraw
and then this to reset card back to normal
modprobe -r ipwraw && modprobe iwl3945
Also, if cli isnt your style spoondrv will provide a gui for this task. (Though if cli isnt your style backtrack probably isnt for you anyway)
im using the 3945 in BT3 and cant connect to internet. i have read numerous forums but found no joy.
using "wireless assistant" i get connection error
can anyone please help, ive tried for hours.

i find that wireless assistant is borked, using dhcp for me = fail. I had to manually configure my wireless using the wlassistant. but you can also use the command interface with iwconfig. im not to sure about using those commands though.

my laptop is xps m1530 and i have tried the command but it doesn't help.after writing the command bt3 can't detect my card.
any ideas?
