What files are need for a LiveCD/USB to boot?

I need to know what files; ie: config.sys, boot.ini... etc are needed to boot BT live on a USB key.

I can not get BT to boot from USB or CD. The iso is extracted and the /BT and /Boot folders are there and when I restart the bios haults and says "replace key or disk, then press any key to restart"

So that tells me that it is trying to boot from the USB key but what exactly is it looking for and what am I doing wrong.

Don't be sorry. But I have searched; forum, wiki, web. A keyword to point me in the write direction would be of great help.

How are you burning the iso to cd?

How are you burning the iso to cd?

Yes, I did try the spoon fed installer. That's why I am asking what specific files are needed for it to initialize/start from a USB/CD. I know my bios can boot from USB or CD because it haults. I just don't know why it's not running.

Alc120 > burn ISO image to CD. So I have the CD that has the /boot and /bt folders.

I know it seems simple but I am at a loss for wtf I am doing wrong. I'm sure it's my inability to KISS.

Actually I read that about 2 days ago when I first tried his installer. What did you miss about my original question?

What files does the bootstrapper look for to load BT/Slaxs! I ask this because do these files need to be in the root of G: when it loads and not in /boot?

Let me rephrase in clear simple terms.

I have /Boot and /Bt folders on my USB key or CD as I have both.

What file needs to be edited or added for it to boot? Because if it's just the /bt and /boot folders with all files included. What is my next step? Search for what?
