Default BackTrack 4 Persistent on Ipod 5th gen 30gig

Couldnt get a persistent install to work on my flash drive, most like because its from sandisk and they loaded it with some crappy U3 systems software that ruined the whole flashy. So im curious if it is possible to do a persistent install on my 30 gig ipod video. In theory, i was thinking i could split the partition and keep 20 gigs for the ipod itself, you know, for music and what not? And use the other 10 gb for backtrack boot. I need it to be persistent also, meaning i need the changes to be saved. This will help with portability seeing as i take my ipod everywhere and using as a portable hard drive to boot from would be most convenient. If this is possible, or if anyone has already done this, please inform me.

    Thanks

    -Trust

You could probably do all that cool stuff or your could just download the u3 removal tool and run it on the usb stick. Probably take ten minutes time total.
Ohh and "for music and what not?" is not really a question is it?

Google for "boot iPod as USB drive" or something similar. There's a trick to doing it, can't remember what it is though.

Other than that, proceed with extreme caution. I haven't had an iPod for long time and have never tried to use it as a USB harddrive, but I can imagine that it would a huge pain in the ass at best if you somehow overwrote the iPod's OS. At worst, you could probably brick it if you're not careful.

    Do your homework.

@OP: Yarr, what Archangel.Amael said, U3 uninstaller for the USB stick. For the iPod, familiarize yourself with a partition editor (IE: gparted - boot off a Ubuntu/BT4 liveCD) to enjoy all the glory of resizing your iPod partitions.

After you repartition the iPod, do not install the bootloader to the root of the drive!!!! Click that advanced button to put grub on the backtrack partition.

I removed the u3... not that dumb. But it leaves me with 3.7 out of 4 gb on my flash drive. Thats the problem with that. Besides, i would rather have 10Gigs dedicated to BT intsead of just 4...

    You said it not me.

That would be normal. The .3 Gigs or 307 megabytes is reserved for the file allocation table itself. Which really isn't all that much space.
Further reading is here. Now if it was a huge amount in the Gigabytes it could stand to reason that you bought a bogus "hacked" drive. But there are ways to test for that as well.

This is what you should have noted from the get-go.
