I am trying to copy somehting off after I ran Auditor off a cd.

I have some files I need to copy but cant get anything to work.

Tryed plugging in a USB floppy... cant find it

Tryed plugging in a USB hard drive, cant access it. but I see it under
the qtparted. I cant find the place to open it anywhere.

Ive tryed dhcpx but it says it cant find a server... Even though
ive set it up on two different ones.

I set a static IP and can ping my other PC, but can get any network or internet from my other windows pc with internet connection sharing... its liike 5K worth of files... what do i DO!!!!! I really dont want to lose them if I reboot

Have you looked under /mnt? Also, I am not sure whether Auditor automatically mounts external USB drives so you might have to mount it manually to be able to access it.

Not providing us with to much information here, but most likely you have messed up something in the process. Try reading up on the proper use of the commands and see if you can't sort it out.

Do you have a CD burner as you could always burn the files onto a CD using Cdrecord that I believe that comes with Auditor.

It wouldnt show up under mount.... but I banged my head agains the wall long enough and got a share to open under my windows computer after this....

This should be a command posted somewhere for new Linux users.
I felt like I accomplished the impossible after figuring this one out...
After setting the ip, mask, and gateway manually.

mount -t cifs -o username=admin //192.168.0.1/TEST /mnt/TEST

Unfortunatley the cap file I put together didnt have the handshake....

At least I learned something from the process.

which i stand by as the most annoying thing to work with...
all day, and dont have the geek book memorized yet...

Can you recite how to set up an altiris server with a functioning
PXE server and capture / deploy HD images and service packs??

I didnt think so....

And why are you trying to use a linux distro?

But since I see that you have about 14 posts it must mean that you like linux and you want to learn to use linux.
In that case you need to do some reading and you will learn and then you will like linux.
As for the other crap stop it! You came here and asked for help and then streaker69 provided said help.

First off, you don't know thing one about me or about my skills and knowledge, or if I've been to the gym or not. I'm not a narcissistic fool that feels the need to work out in front of a bunch of sweaty people. I get quite enough workout doing what I do already.

I'm sure I could spout off a dozen things that you have no idea how to setup either, gee, could you tell me how to properly setup an Ethernet Ring Network on a SCADA/HMI network including dual OPC servers with a redundant backend, No? I didn't think so.

You're the one that asked an assinine question, when the resources you needed are easily available with the most basic of searches, and if you think that Linux is just too tough to learn, then why are you bothering with one of the most advanced and difficult distro's to learn?

Plus, I do not have the 'geek' book memorized either, but when I want to know something that I don't, I search for it first, before whining in a forum as to why that information isn't freely available.

OH, and after doing a few minutes of Research, I bet I could setup an Altiris server without any problem, since it would fit right in with the rest of my Symantec Enterprise software that I'm already running. See, that's the amazing thing about the internet, the information is there, ya just gotta look for it.
