I found out that VMware only makes integrated wireless cards as abridged so backtrack detects it as a wired network.

Is there another program that won't do this?
Because for some reason my Toshiba A215 laptop won't boot from a CD or USB. I get to the part where you chose to mode but then the screen turns black.

You need to use a USB wireless device in order for VMware to detect it. As long as you use a supported card connected through USB you should be able to inject with it and get it into monitor mode just as booting the live CD/USB.

As far as I know there is no other program either that you can use to run BT in a virtual fashion that would allow you to use an integrated wireless card in the fashion you wish.

My best advice would be to look further into the reason you can not boot the CD/USB as it most likely can be fixed.
