    Usually this is a problem if you are not close enough to the AP. Try using airodump-ng to check your PWR and RXQ.

    If you are close to the AP then I am not entirely sure what to tell you that hasn't already been said.

    stop-network
    ifconfig wlan0 down
    macchanger -m xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx wlan0
    ifconfig wlan0 up
    start-network

    That's simply all it should be.

    Try updating your drivers. I have the compat-wireless-2.6.32.3 drivers installed and don't have any association problems after changing with macchanger.

    Actually, the AP was filtering client MAC addresses (another person also administer the AP and changed its settings): this is _not_ a bug (the driver works good).
