    first open /etc/lilo.conf
    Code:
    nano -w /etc/lilo.conf
    The <Trick> my lilo.conf looks like :

    Code:
    lba32
    boot=/dev/hda
    prompt
    timeout=60
    default=BackTrack
    compact     ##### thats the <trick>

    change-rules
    reset
    vga=791

    image=/boot/vmlinuz
    root=/dev/hda3
    label=BackTrack
    initrd=/boot/splash.initrd

    For anyone attempting this "trick" I just want to point out that although the compact option will make lilo read the HD faster it may cause some computers with older hardware to hang.

    No need to panic if this happens to you though, just edit out this option and run lilo -v again to fix it.
