Default problem with mplayer or rather kplayer

    Hi,
I just tested to play a video with the bt3 live-cd using kplayer. It didn't work, but with bt3-beta live-cd and kplayer some days ago it worked. I don't know if it's a "bug". But here is the way i fixed it. Maybe not the best solution :-/

    1. boot with the bt3-beta live-cd
    2. search for "mplayer" in /
    3. copy everything to a temporary folder (e.g. hard disk):

    /etc/mplayer
    /etc/input.conf
    /etc/mplayer.conf

    /usr/bin/mplayer
    /usr/lib/mplayer/vidix/*.*
    /usr/share/mplayer/font/
    /usr/share/mplayer/skins/default/*.*
    /usr/share/mplayer/subfont.ttf

    4. boot with the bt3-final live-cd
    5. copy everything from 3. to corresponding location of the running system

    now, kplayer should play videos.

Maybe this procedure is not necessary after a bt3-final hard disk install.

    enjoy it

The same here, KPlayer is unable to play videos, it hangs, and I have to terminate it. Is this a bug ??

    Thanks for support

I too had problems trying to play videos using kplayer, mplayer, etc.. Mplayer still does not work on my laptop. VLC worked for me to play dvds, but when playing a wmv, it would only play sound but not video. I finally got kplayer to work by following the instructions for Mplayer setup here : http://circolinux.blogspot.com/2007/...review_26.html .

I don't know why my kplayer didn't work initially, but after trying the Mplayer setup indicated above, my Mplayer still does not work, buy my Kplayer started working. I'm a newbie, so I might have some newbie luck.

    good luck.
