You need the kernel headers. Just use the new BT3 Final.
And don't forget to donate a little something
i tried to install the new driver for my WUSB54GC and followed tutorials from the forum.
but when i tried to run make command i got the following error
what am i doing wrong? is the installation package corrupted or sumthg..?Code:make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.21.5/build: No such file or directory. Stop. rt73.ko failed to build! make: *** [module] Error 1
You need the kernel headers. Just use the new BT3 Final.

dd if=/dev/swc666 of=/dev/wyze
I'm getting the exact same error with BT3 Final.
You can find everything your looking for and more here
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.21.5/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
rt73.ko failed to build!
make: *** [module] Error 1
As you can see, I am getting the same error. I'm not sure what this might be. I tried using rt73-k2wrlz-3.0.3.tar.bz2 and rt73-k2wrlz-2.0.1.tar.bz2 ( which is an older version that was used in the tutorial that I viewed ).
I am using BT3-Final on a desktop that I build several months ago for SUPER CHEAP!
Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+
MCP6PB M2+ MoBo
3 Gigs RAM
Bunch of hard drives
- If you need more info than that let me know ..
I even tried looking into that directory(/lib/modules/2.6.21.5/build) to make sure that it was there, and it is. Although 'build' is a file, not a directory which is what I expected because I do not see a file extention there.
Any ideas ? I am downloading backtrack 2 and the pre-final of 4 as well to see if that might make a difference. Also, I am about to boot this laptop to the live disk as well to see If I can get it running on this thing.
Thanks in advance for any help!!
You need to build the kernel source first
Is that a long and complicated process ?
I mean the drivers I have running on Ubuntu (which is installed on my HD) are working fine for packet injection
- Also, I thought I might try the rt73 drivers on Ubuntu, and I'm getting the same error. I thought maybe I was getting it because I was running a live session...
I would just like to aim towards getting into the WPA side of things and I know that I need these drivers to capture that lovely handshake.
Does BT4 have the drivers I need all ready to go ? Is it worth the download even though it isn't final yet ? Pre-releases make me nervous..
Thanks for the input!
