Sorry man, but that video was the funniest damn thing I've seen in a loong time. Your info, while not humorous was really helpful and I'm only commenting in here cause I'm gonna put some of it to good use shortly. Posting everything you did step by step really helps a lot of people, so props for that

Ok Doc, I need a medic, I've already posted this in my thread about the orinoco card causing a blue screen of death-- well its not killing the computer any more but the boot process still stalls. Using your method-- which is kewl
    I still get this:
    bt ~ # ls
    Desktop/ psk-01.txt psk-05.cap psk-08.txt
    Set\ IP\ address psk-02.cap psk-05.txt sample_scripts/
    orinoco-0.15/ psk-02.txt psk-06.cap ssid.txt
    orinoco-0.15.tar.gz psk-03.cap psk-06.txt ssid.txt~
    password.lst psk-03.txt psk-07.cap testdb
    password.lst~ psk-04.cap psk-07.txt wpa_supplicant-0.5.10/
    psk-01.cap psk-04.txt psk-08.cap
    bt ~ # cd orinoco-0.15/
    bt orinoco-0.15 # ls
    Kbuild airport.c hermes_rid.h orinoco_cs.c orinoco_plx.c
    Makefile compat.h net/ orinoco_nortel.c orinoco_tmd.c
    NEWS hermes.c orinoco.c orinoco_pci.c spectrum_cs.c
    README.orinoco hermes.h orinoco.h orinoco_pci.h
    bt orinoco-0.15 # cd makefile
-bash: cd: makefile: No such file or directory
    bt orinoco-0.15 # cd Makefile
-bash: cd: Makefile: Not a directory
    bt orinoco-0.15 # make Makefile
Makefile:15: *** Kernel in /usr/src/linux-2.6.21.5 is not configured. Stop.
    bt orinoco-0.15 # cd Kbuild
-bash: cd: Kbuild: Not a directory
    bt orinoco-0.15 # make Kbuild
Makefile:15: *** Kernel in /usr/src/linux-2.6.21.5 is not configured. Stop.
    bt orinoco-0.15 #
Any thoughts? This kernel configuration thing is throwing me for a loop--I know I've missed something--the threads I've previously been directed to were a bit nebulus as to the exact procedure (read.. step by step for windows using dipstick, namely mmyself
    Thanks

That Video was very funny, I liked it too.

I used work as Tech Support for Primus Canada and you wouldn't believe the
Stories of some of our calls.

This one guy called and said, "my mouse cursor is in the middle of the screen and my mouse is all the way to the right of my mouse pad,,, I want to move my mouse to the
right of the screen",,,, pause on the answering machine,,, then he said, "I'll wait here until you call back."

He wasn't kidding,,, another guy called and said that he was addicted to the internet and he can't stay away from the ladies on the internet. and he wasn't kidding either.

Good thing this one went on the answering machine, would have been a hard task to keep a straight face if you had actually taken the call live But I am starting to understand why tech-support always starts with asking if you have your computer properly connected to the power outtake and the power turned on regardless of what your problem is. Probably solves about 50 % of all issues

Actually, we asked that question to see how easy the customer would follow instructions... If they gave us flack, we would configure some BS thing, and ask them to reboot and call us back if they couldn't connect.
Then when he would called back, we would laugh at the poor sucker that had to finish with his/her issues.

Its sounds lazy; and it is; well the point here is, the lazy get paid the same,
    and they live longer.... lol

Getting back to the nitty gritty, I'm trying to update the driver for my orinoco gold card, and I get this:
    bt ~ # cd orinoco-0.15/
    bt orinoco-0.15 # ls
    Kbuild airport.c hermes_rid.h orinoco_cs.c orinoco_plx.c
    Makefile compat.h net/ orinoco_nortel.c orinoco_tmd.c
    NEWS hermes.c orinoco.c orinoco_pci.c spectrum_cs.c
    README.orinoco hermes.h orinoco.h orinoco_pci.h
    bt orinoco-0.15 # cd makefile
-bash: cd: makefile: No such file or directory
    bt orinoco-0.15 # cd Makefile
-bash: cd: Makefile: Not a directory
    bt orinoco-0.15 # make Makefile
Makefile:15: *** Kernel in /usr/src/linux-2.6.21.5 is not configured. Stop.
    bt orinoco-0.15 # cd Kbuild
-bash: cd: Kbuild: Not a directory
    bt orinoco-0.15 # make Kbuild
Makefile:15: *** Kernel in /usr/src/linux-2.6.21.5 is not configured. Stop.
    bt orinoco-0.15 #
Any thoughts? Where is the kernel directory, so I can cd into itand start the configuration process?

It is ok, this thread is about connecting to the internet using shell commands... however, I do believe that your commands are fine, its your BT3 install that should be looked at.

Ok, PM me the link and we can break down your issues on that thread.
