    Default How update Aircrack-ng?

    Hi
Installed backtrack 3 beta on vmware fusion for osx. I read about slapt and gslapt for updating packages. I ran this, and updated all, it took quite a long time as it ran very slowwwwwly.

However it finall finished but I dont see any aircrack-ng packages despite the installed version being several versions old. Is there a package repository I need to add to gslapt or without doing it externally with a download, source compile etc, has anyone updated to the latest aircrack-ng from backtrack 3 beta? In one post someone mentioned a command but it isnt present in backtrack 3 beta/

    Thanks
    Greg

Thats because slapt-get and gslapt (the gui front end) are for the base linux packages and not the kewl tewls.

Yes I have and so have others.

    Hi
I tried that command before but it said command not found,
    update-aircrack.sh

Thats why I posted , I didnt know if this command was from backtrack 2 final and not in backtrack 3 beta, so I did rtfm before posting, but thank you for the reply .... (not being sarcastic here). I am appreciative of any tips and advice.

    Lets try again.

The link I provided mentions nothing of update-aircrack.sh
So again follow the link above ^^ and it will take you to the wiki and show you how to update aircrack to aircrack-ptw. Make sure you follow the guide and have met the dependencies in regards to sqlite.

Sorry to post back, but there are 2 points made there.

    1) To update to latest aircrack-ng which is what I want run the /pentest/wireless update.

    2) To upgrade to aircrack-ptw (which is no longer needed as latest aircrack contains ptw). Also the version of ptw is from 2007. So, I want the latest aircrack-ng and didn't know if there was a method short of recompiling from source to do this.

The link does not address this without running that command which doesn't seem to work. Oh well.

I tried the script too, but had to back off change. It just hung up and then some keys didnt work properly? I think it is probably easier just to manually upgrade aircrack-ng as a package and apply the driver patches.

    Thanks anyway.
