just got this pci card "netgear wpn311"

when i go to the config in cain it says waring only Ethernet cards supported? ok so i click on netgear "wpn311"

then go to scan mac addresses and nothing... (i know there are other computers on my network)


is there any way to get this card 2 work?

Isn't cain and abel a windows based app?

Cain & Abel is a password recovery tool for Microsoft Operating Systems.

711, You are correct this IS the general IT section. The thing is that we have no use for cain & able. I've had a copy on one of my machines for a year and i think i only used it once to decrypt some tcpdump results and even with that I was a little disappointed. The people around here use linux and there are far better tools in linux to accomplish the same result that cain delivers. I believe cain is a Ethernet sniffer and that the only wifi card it works with is the airdecap adapter which costs like $179.00US but I could be wrong.

That being said it olny makes sense to take archangel.amael's advice and visit the cain forums to answer your question OR start using backtrack. No offense either to any of the makers of cain and abel. I'm sure its very usefull I just prefer linux.

Yes 711 I mean no harm. however they will probably have an answer to your questions at the cain and abel forums that is why I posted you a link to them. They will most likely have experts at using their tool on their forums.
It is the same as asking how to perform car repairs at a model rocket club website.

go into the configure and check " do not use promiscuious mode" hope that helps
