Aircrack running extremely slow

Hi I'm pretty new to this so please excuse that.

I'm trying to crack a WEP and its taking a really long time. Aircrack has been running for almost 48 hours and has tried over 2 billion keys but in that time i've only collected 156k IVs. I'm showing good signal strength. I started with 2 copies of aircrack running. One assuming that the key was 64bit and another assuming 128. Both have a fudge factor of 4.

I'm running backtrack 2 Final installed on a Dell X300 with 768 MB of ram and with a Linksys WPC54G V3.1; Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong would be appreciated.

Yea that's the video I watched to learn how to do it in the first place. I mean in the video his cracked it after 9 key attempts.

the pb is not aircrack , you will go nowhere with only 156 IVs ........

you need at least 5000 IVs for a 64 wep key / 20000 IVs for a 128 one

this values are ok if you use latest aircrack version wich uses PTW attack by default

......

He wrote 156k = 156000 Ivs in his first post.

Or am i wrong?

first i never used the 64 or 128 switch,

secondly don't touch the fudge factor (2 is default)

wich version of aircrack-ng are you using ?

because if it's native bt2(0.7) , you will need to upgrade it ......

if you use latest stable (0.9.x), take care to use -z switch

if you use 1.X beta then your key should be cracked within 50000 IVS max

from what i can guess you are trying to do the old attack .... and this one need 1 000 000 keys before be able to crack it

in stable version -z use PTW attack, wich reduce the number of IVS needed to crack (max 50000 usually)

in beta 1.x version , ptw is done auto without the use of -z

please could you check your version of aircrack-ng

i bet you need either to update or to modify your cracking line with the -z switch .

If he doesn't know the size of the key, whose network are you helping him to crack?
