If you are tired do this another day because there is work to do, i am tired and i am writing this today.
Here i will tell you how to setup the screen resolution of your monitor highter than 1024x768(set the resolution at 1152x864,any you want...), i have set mine at 1152x864...
You can do this simply configuring X11 of the backtrack:
First need to create a backup of xorg.conf(xorg.conf is the config of the importand driver that you use like mouse , keyboard , monitor and other) using this:
cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup
At terminal and type "xorgconfig" press enter
will appear this:
This program will create a basic xorg.conf file, based on menu selections
you make. It will ask for a pathname when it is ready to write the file.

The xorg.conf file usually resides in /etc/X11 or /usr/etc/X11. If
no xorg.conf file is present there, Xorg will probe the system to
autoconfigure itself.
Press enter to continue, or ctrl-c to abort.
Just press enter
now will appear this:
First specify a mouse protocol type. Choose one from the following list:
1. Auto [Auto detect]
2. SysMouse [SysMouse]
3. MouseSystems [Mouse Systems (3-button protocol)]
4. PS/2 [PS/2 Mouse]
5. Microsoft [Microsoft compatible (2-button protocol)]
The recommended protocol is Auto. If you have a very old mouse
or don't want OS support or auto detection, and you have a two-button
or three-button serial mouse, it is most likely of type Microsoft.

Enter a protocol number:
Just press number 1 and enter to autoconfigure your mouse type...
If your mouse has only two buttons, it is recommended that you enable
Emulate3Buttons.

Please answer the following question with either 'y' or 'n'.

select one of the predefined ranges below that correspond to industry-
standard monitor types, or give a specific range.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you do not specify a monitor type with a horizontal
sync range that is beyond the capabilities of your monitor. If in doubt,
choose a conservative setting.

I am going to write the xorg.conf file now. Make sure you don't accidently
overwrite a previously configured one.
Shall I write it to /etc/X11/xorg.conf?y
Press y for the answer yes and nothing happends.
Now dont do anything without finish reading it.
Now logout and login with startx command. If something wrong there is the failure of your card for the resolution or you just repeat it from the beginning by changing the option of the resolution to 9 for "1152x864" screen size nad changing the horizontal sync range of your monitor to option 8 for the 60 Hz.
If this doesnt work becouse your card doesn support this you need to backup by autoconfigure typing "xconf" or backing up the file that we have created typing this "cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup /etc/X11/xorg.conf"
