Linux from scratch is the way to if you really want to completely build your own.

Is BT build with Linux From Scratch to?

Nope..........BT is based off Slax.............which, in turn, is based off Slackware...........


Slax is a module based liveCD distro, allowing customisation via modules............

Read up on it - It may be a good starting point for you

(Although if you truly want to *completely* build your own distro, then LFS is the way to go)

I can recommend LFS, as well as hardened LFS, that taught me a lot about security

I have downloaded Slax and I have a folder 'boot' and a folder 'slax' I tried changing 'slax' to 'Something' but now I get a fatal error when booting, I editted some stuff in the boot folder

Well I editted all the files you can in the boot folder, I changed 'Slax' to 'Something' in every file you can open.
