hey guys iam new on backtrack, i have TP-LINK TL-WN721N also have
BackTrack 4 Beta Release VMWare Image, i place ar9271.fw to /lib/firmware and downloaded latest version of compact wireless, and when i run : sudo make , then i got this info.![]()

the problem is: your using BackTrack 4 Beta Release VMWare Image
Use BackTrack 4 R2 Release VMware Image It should have the driver and firmware (for your adapter) already installed

I just noticed that the BackTrack 4 R2 iso doesn't have the one stage firmware, which is needed for the AVM FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick N and AVM FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick 2.4 and possibly others. So any one still having problems, make sure that you have ar9170.fw in /lib/firmware

I need help with BackTrack 4
I'm using BackTrack4 with VMWARE.
When I type airmon-ng it comes up with no interfaces or drivers!
My Wifi card is D-Link DWA-552(not a usb wifi)
I'm new in BackTrack please help![]()

Your NOT USB WIFI, don't work under VMWARE.
USE a USB card with vmware,
Please, check cards supported with Back|Track Linux
