Default New Career Academy Title - CPTS/C|EH/Backtrack......

..........at least it's a new one to me!

"Certified Penetration Testing Specialist / Cerfied Ethical Hacker / Backtrack
    Triple Certification"

    http://www.careeracademy.com/index.a...ROD&ProdID=219

Although I must admit, their being unable to spell correctly is a little disconcerting!

The site is a bit vague about the BackTrack element - does it cover something like the 101 course, or maybe the "to the max!" course??

    The general course outline mentions:
    • Why Use Live Linux Boot CD's
    • Security Live Linux CD's
    • FrozenTech's Complete Distro List
    • Most Popular: BackTrack
    • http://forums.remote-exploit.org/
    • My Slax Creator
    • Slax Modules (Software Packages)
    • Lab - Installing BackTrack into a VM
    • Lab - Updating BackTrack Files
    • Lab - BackTrack Services

    Anyone looked at this CBT?

Yeah, but "Senior Member - Remote Exploit" forums doesn't mean anything to an HR drone.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

I was intrigued by the fact that they advertise it as a "triple certification" course.
But the only mention of BackTrack specifically is the rather generic list above.
I suppose that the materials covered throughout the course are deemed enough to prepare you, in general, for all or any of the 3 cert's - as opposed to actually covering any of them with a more granular approach?

Anyway, the main reason I mentioned it in the first place was from the point of view of the spreading popularity of Muts and Ziplocks undertakings with the off-sec cert's.
    Well done them

Man I always wanted to be "cerified".....doesn't that mean that I get my angel wings?

I'm curious what their BT cert is based on....I wasn't aware that there was a BT cert. Wouldn't that kind of imply that either you guys had come up with some requirements or that a standards body had established a benchmark against which to perform certifications?
I'm a compulsive post editor, you might wanna wait until my post has been online for 5-10 mins before quoting it as it will likely change.

I know I seem harsh in some of my replies. SORRY! But if you're doing something illegal or posting something that seems to be obvious BS I'm going to call you on it.

    Yes, it would.

There are a few courses available, which are CISSP accredited.
ISC2 has credited Offensive Security Wireless Attacks with 10 CPE credits.

I read the Offensive Security 101 v.2.0 training page. Since I see 09/01/2008: Offensive Security 101 - v2.0 on the page would I be right in assuming BT3 beta is used?

    Thanks,

If you look, you will find that there has been a recent update of the courses to v2. This update was in part to include new features in BT3 and updated methodologies. For the most part, as a lot of the material in them is not entirely specific to a particular version of BT, it is unlikely that there will be a major overhaul of the content just because of BT3 becoming final. You can be sure that despite that, the courses are up to date and constantly being updated as and where necessary.

OffSec 101 v1 was based on BT2, Offsec 101 v2 is based on BT3, but as balding_parrot said, neither course is absolutely dependant on a particular version of BackTrack. We're also nearing completion of the BackTrack to the Max course, a much advanced course with a prequisite of 101 or equivalent.

Also, Re@lity mentioned our WiFu course has been credited with 10 CPE points, I'd add that the 101 course has been credited with 40 points.
