    Default RTL8187 bactrack 3

    RTL8187 bactrack 3 does anyone know how to bring this chipset up to work in backtrack 3 ? thanks in advance

    thx prez what i should have been asking was could anyone tell me the commands in a shell to type to bring this device up thx. its a usb device that im using

    Plug it in, type "lsusb" and report back your findings.

    it just says command not found
    soory dumb me didnt plug it in:/heres what i got prez

    Bus 5 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 1 Device 4: ID 0bda:8187 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
    Bus 1 Device 3: ID 054c:0281 Sony Corp.
    Bus 1 Device 2: ID 0930:6544 Toshiba Corp.
    Bus 1 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 4 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 3 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 2 Device 1: ID 0000:0000

    Well as you can see your device is being recognized. If its not working then maybe you just have to load the proper driver via modprobe. I don't have one of these cards so I don't know what the correct driver is.
