BackTrack 3 beta works well with this laptop with minor adjustments.
If you just use the live cd, you will not be able to connect to WPA/2 networks . This laptop comes with the Intel Pro Wireless 3945abg card. The new drivers (iwlwifi which includes iwl3945) works fine with WEP and Open networks.
In order to have it work with WPA/2 networks, first you need to install BT3 onto a hard drive/usb drive/etc, then follow the instructions on the iwlwifi project page: "intellinuxwireless.org/?p=iwlwifi&n=howto-iwlwifi"
The only difference I had to do was rename the micro code from iwlwifi-3945.ucode to iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode and remember to turn on the wireless switch . Once this was done, the wireless card connected to all my WPA/2 access point with no problems.
Everything else on this laptop worked fine.
