weird window problem
when i run backtrack (which is installed to my hd) in any mode it logs in but i cannot resise, minimise or close any windows as the top bar just dissapears!
it only works if i boot into bt flux mode
then log out and run startx
any ideas how to fix the problem?

are you using Nvida for you video card? My laptop had the same problem due to it was running nvidia and the download didnt seem to work. thought it could be a MD5 issue so I tried booting from thumb and that worked. did you install from thumb or CD? and did it work properly from either of those before you installed to your HDD?

yes i have an nvidia card in my laptop
it is the usb version the md5 checks out and it is installed directly to hd
could not run it before it was installed as my laptop is a toshiba table so booting off external devices that cost below 100 pounds is almost imposible!
any ideas?

you can only use flux? the Compiz Nvidia experimental I believe teh second option down on grub boot does that work for you ? also are you using changes if so you can change your xconfig option to see if anything in there will help. but since we know you can get it to boot correctly under Flux that tells me it has to be a setting or driver somewhere then. other than this I am at a loss my friend.

the only othe thing is that any changes i make are lost

i have that kinda problem as well, like, if i select kde compiz nvidia, it wont boot at all, and if i select kde compiz, it boots, but there are no borders on the windows.
normal kde mode works fine
