    Exclamation Upgrading kernel on bt3 final

    hi...im new here(forum & Bt)..
    hope u can assist me for kernel upgrade, so:
    i have installed bt3 final on my usb drive(8Gb) so when i was following this tuto to Dr_GrEeN :
    hxxp://forums.remote-exploit.org/showpost.php?p=79341&postcount=1
    to upgrade my kernel from 2.6.21.5 to 2.6.26.3 i came to this step:

    Now lets add our old kernel to the lilo.conf. Here's my lilo.conf as an example..

    Code:
    boot = /dev/sda
    prompt
    timeout = 60
    #bitmap=/boot/splash.bmp
    change-rules
    reset
    #vga = 769,771/773/792
    vga = 769
    image = /boot/vmlinuz-old
      root = current
      label = BackTrack-Old
      read-only
    image = /boot/vmlinuz
      root = current
      label = BackTrack-New
      read-only
    i dont know what i have to o coz i found in other tuto that i have to copy 2 files, "System.map" and "bzImage" before starting make install:

    Code:
    # cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/bzImage-<version>
    # cp System.map /boot/System.map-<version>
    # ln -s /boot/System.map-<version> /boot/System.map
    so i when i tape in terminal i receive this message:
    ln: creating symbolic link /boot/system.map' : File exists
    so i tried : make install
    and it give me this:

    Code:
    sh /usr/src/linux-2.6.21.5/arch/i386/boot/install.sh 2.6.21.5 arch/i386/boot/bzImage System.map "/boot"
    warning: The boot sector and map file are on different disks.
    Added Linux*
    One warning was issued.
    so plz any help be appreciated...
    oh im running win vista utimate core2 duo 1.73 2G ram ...

    thx in advance..

    Here are quick steps to upgrade the kernel
    --------------------------------------------------

    Step :1
    --------
    download and untar the latest kernel into /usr/src

    Step :2
    ---------
    cd /usr/src
    rm linux
    ln -s /usr/src/linux-2.6.26.3 linux

    Step 3
    --------
    cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.26.3/
    make mrproper
    make clean
    zcat /proc/config.gz > .config

    Step 4
    --------
    now kernel settings (may be u don't required it)
    make xconfig
    make -j 15 all
    make -j 15 bzImage
    make -j 15 modules
    make -j 15 modules_install

    Step final
    --------------
    mv /boot/vmlinuz /boot/vmlinuz-old
    make install
    chmod 777 /boot/vmlinuz
