hi...im new here(forum & Bt)..
hope u can assist me for kernel upgrade, so:
i have installed bt3 final on my usb drive(8Gb) so when i was following this tuto to Dr_GrEeN :
hxxp://forums.remote-exploit.org/showpost.php?p=79341&postcount=1
to upgrade my kernel from 2.6.21.5 to 2.6.26.3 i came to this step:
Now lets add our old kernel to the lilo.conf. Here's my lilo.conf as an example..
Code:
boot = /dev/sda
prompt
timeout = 60
#bitmap=/boot/splash.bmp
change-rules
reset
#vga = 769,771/773/792
vga = 769
image = /boot/vmlinuz-old
root = current
label = BackTrack-Old
read-only
image = /boot/vmlinuz
root = current
label = BackTrack-New
read-only
i dont know what i have to o coz i found in other tuto that i have to copy 2 files, "System.map" and "bzImage" before starting make install:
Code:
# cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/bzImage-<version>
# cp System.map /boot/System.map-<version>
# ln -s /boot/System.map-<version> /boot/System.map
so i when i tape in terminal i receive this message:
ln: creating symbolic link /boot/system.map' : File exists
so i tried : make install
and it give me this:
Code:
sh /usr/src/linux-2.6.21.5/arch/i386/boot/install.sh 2.6.21.5 arch/i386/boot/bzImage System.map "/boot"
warning: The boot sector and map file are on different disks.
