dlink gw510 rt61 atheros

hi need some help getting this to work

i have been trying for the past 3 week to connect to my router. it is wpa-personal

i have tried editing the wpa supplicant file to :

network={
essid="nameofnetwork"
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
proto=WPA
pairwise=TKIP
group=TKIP
psk="WPApassphrase"
}

i also tried to edit the rc.d/inet1.conf file

i have read almost everything in here and on the internet but still no luck

when i try the
wpa_supplicant -D madwifi -i wlan0 -c wpa_supplicant.conf i get "driver not supported"

i have more or less tried everything, could anyone please advise??

Are you certain that you have a card with an Atheros chipset, as only this chipset uses the madwifi drivers? Otherwise try replacing it with -D wext as it should work for most cards.

EDIT: Just noticed the heading of the thread where you specifically mention the card you use. Silly me ... However I would still recommend that you try out my advice as the -D wext option should work for most cards as I already mentioned.

but i did try the -Dwext it is the same outcome
