spoofing mac problem

Hi,

when id do this commands to change my mac

wlanconfig ath0 destroy
macchanger --mac 00:11:22:33:44:55 wifi0
wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode managed
ifconfig ath0 up
iwconfig ath0 essid "123wifi" key 1234567890
dhcpcd ath0


it will change to 06:11:22:33:44:55

not to 00:11:22:33:44:55

These are the steps that I will usually take.. I am using a netgear card

wlanconfig ath0 destroy
airmon-ng start wifi0
ifconfig ath0 down
ifconfig wifi0 down
macchanger ath0 -m 00:11:22:33:44:55
macchanger wifi0 -m 00:11:22:33:44:55
ifconfig wifi0 up
ifconfig ath0 up

Once that is done you should be in both monitor mode and with a fake mac. Hope this helps. FWIW I think I might be doing a bit of overkill on my steps but no big deal to me. If you do not want to switch to monitor mode, leave out steps 1, 2, 4, 6, & 7. Remember though that there have been people out there having issues with fake mac addresses...

Does anybody here know the reason behind that???

Unfortunately i have the same problem
what i do is :

~`wlanconfig ath0 destroy
~`macchanger --mac 00:11:22:33:44:55 wifi0
and then..

~`wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode managed

~`iwconfig ath0 essid "name of my nework" key "001122334455"
~`dhcpcd ath0

very rarely i can establish connection but most of the time my pc hangs up!!!
once i establish connection my mac address looks like 06:11:22:33:44:55 instead of 00:11:22:33:44:55 so when i set up mac address filtering on my router i cannot get in.

That quick command sequence gets me into monitor mode with a faked mac without any other commands. Still, not sure what is causing the "06" to be added to your faked mac. Sorry.

The problem is that we have atheros cards, so this doesn't work for us
We have to use the commands written in red in mstfyounis's first post.

What works for me is ;

ifconfig wifi0 down
macchanger --mac <your desired mac> wifi0

wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta -bssid
ifconfig ath0 up

then continue to log in with iwconfig as you normally would.

I think the boys above are trying to appoint a specific mac for their mac filtered AP..

So the random mac, although handy, will not help them at the mo..
