    Default Error in medusa.

When I try to attack my FTP server using medusa+John the ripper~

I always got the same problem:

ERROR: [ftp.mod] failed: Server did not respond with a '331'.
CRITICAL: Unknown ftp.mod module state -1

    or

ERROR: ftp.mod failed: medusaReceive returned no data.
CRITICAL: Unknown ftp.mod module state -1

    I write:

    #medusa -h IP -u root -P JOHN_PASSWORD_FILE (password.lst) -M ftp

It starts to try some passwords and when it tried like 5-20 (once it even checked 300~) I got those errors.

    What can I do?
    Thanks

First, do you have the FTP module installed in Medusa? This command will show all installed modules.

    Code:
    % medusa -d
Are you trying to redirect or pipe JTR through Medusa? As far as I know, you can't do that. I'm not really sure why you'd do that anyway, since Medusa and JTR are different types of tools. If that is what you are trying to do, you're don't have a pipe or redirect in the CLI.

If you are simply trying to use the JTR password list, then the command would be something like this:

    Code:
    % medusa -h 192.168.0.1 -u root -P /path/to/JTR/passwords.lst -e ns -M ftp

    I have the same problem:
    # medusa -h host -U logins.txt -P passwords.txt -O results.txt -M ftp

after two or three attempt -
ERROR: ftp.mod failed: medusaReceive returned no data.
CRITICAL: Unknown ftp.mod module state -1

It seems that this module isn't working correctly =(

    p.s. OS freebsd 6.0
