Default Backtrack2 don't recognze my wireless card atheros AR5006EG

Hi, I just instaled (after many hours) BackTrack2, now I want to configure my wireless card (atheros AR5006EG).

when I write ifconfig -a the result is:

    #ifconfig -a

    eth0 Link encap ...........
    ........

    lo Link encap .............
    ...........
    When I write iwconfig:

    #iwconfig

    lo no wireless extensions.

    eth0 no wireless extensions.

    When I write iwconfig -a:

    #iwconfig -a
    -a No such device.

what can I do to configure my wireless card?

Thanks, and sorry by my english.

I'm newbie, I hope you can help me.

    AJ.

"ath0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device"

    what can i do?

does your card light up? try popping it in/out of the slot and try ifconfig ath0 up again.

if it still doesn't see it, try rebooting and bring up the interface. if this doesn't work, try the demsg command to see if the card is recognized by the BT. if you don't see it, then there could be a problem with the card itself.

How does the card connect to your computer, is it internal, usb or a pcmcia card? Depending on the kind, you should post the output of the proper ls command (ex: lspcmcia, lspci), that way we can at least see if its a driver issue or a hardware issue.

    I think something like:

    Code:
    dmesg |grep -i ath
What kind of card is this anyways? PCMCIA, mini-PCI, USB? If its PCMCIA the card service might've been stopped for unknown reasons. Does BT use HAL?

    Maybe something like:

    Code:
    modprobe ath_pci
I'm assuming its an atheros chipset hence the ath. Might have to reinstall the madwifi drivers if nothing seems to be working.

This card has issues but here you go. BTW, you could have solved this yourself with very little searching of these forums but here is a freebie....

    Code:

    Atheros AR5006EG
    Chipset: AR5006EG = (AR2423)
    Chip: AR2423 (802.11a+b+g)
    URL: http://www.atheros.com/pt/bulletins/...EGBulletin.pdf
    Supports: IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, 802.11g
    Device Information: TBD
    Notes: works with madwifi-r2153-20070224
Notes: Works on Toshiba Satellite A135
Notes: Had to change order of module insertion.
    Works when order is:modprobe wlan_scan_sta,modprobe wlan_wep,modprobe ath_pci
