    Default noob question

ok I'm completly new to Linux, BT3 and such.
    Now here's my question:
I want my wireless USB adapter to work on BT3. I have a realtek 8187 chipset.
How do I do that? I downloaded the newest kernel or how do you call it(ver 2.6.6) but how do I install it?

And one last problem, kismet won't start. Well it starts for a sec and then it just closes I can't even see what it is in the command line.
    maybe this will help.
if I type in Iwconfig then I get nothing for lo, eth0 and I think I get the right message for wlan0 but he doesn't give any message for wifi0.

    help?

I believe if you have the USB thingy plugged in when you start up, it'll install automagically

Run Kismet from the command line. Report back on your error. I suspect it will report that you have no sources enabled.

    Yes in the command line.

And your kismet.conf file should be located here:
    Code:
     bt~# /usr/local/etc/kismet.conf
Might also wanna have a peek at: Kismet Docu
To be successful here you should read all of the following.

    Notice: ....(nothing special,I'm sure)

Fatal: please configure at least one packet sources. No packet sources are defined in kismet.config.

That's where it's located. You must specify a text editor like this eg.

    nano /usr/local/etc/kismet.conf

If you were hoping for a GUI type of editor, try Kedit or Kate
