Some Windows applications may work using Wine.

VLC media player also does the trick.

If you want to try wine just navigate to the folder the windows app is located and in a terminal simply type.

    Code:
    wine thewindowsapp.exe
    or
    wine /full/path/to/windows/app.exe
For instructions on how to use wine go to the wine website and check in the support section.
