Not able to boot
Hello,
My name is Ibrahim and i am from UAE.This is my very first post in R.E.First of all,let me tell you that i am little bit weak in english and second is i am totally new to Linux.So after been to so many topics of backtrack, finally i am here on the right spot to ask for HELP.Now, i am having two OS,one is XP and one is Fedora.I have bootable backtrack2 i.e., downloaded .iso image and it is working too.But the only problem its not booting completely.I mean,its only shows
boot.....vmlinuz.gz
boot....initdrg.gz (if i am not wrong)
and after that blank screen.Nothing further.I know,you people must be feeling strange to have this kind of question in your forum,but thats the truth i am totally new and i want to do something new.So,i need your help guys.Thank you.

tried but when i am trying to browse the file through run command to btfinal.iso like asssume its in my D: drive.So i am doing cd D: and then md5sum -c bt2final.iso.md5
it shows no such file or directory.Help

Sounds like you're in Windows. Try doing it in Linux.
Since you say you're totally new to Linux I'll try make it easier for you.
1. Navigate to the correct location of the bt2final.iso file in konqueror.
2. On Konqueror's Menubar click Tools -> Open Terminal option or simply Ctrl+T.
3. Now run the command in the terminal
4. Check that the md5sum generated matches the md5sum on the Backtrack download page.md5sum -c bt2final.iso.md5

Again it looks like you are trying to boot the cd with windows turned on whatever.
Ok first go back and look at the link I gave you above and use the md5 sum from it. This is the correct one.
Then if it is ok put the cd into your cd rom drive and reboot your computer.
Before it boots up make sure that you have enabled or turned on booting from a cdrom device this is found in your bios settings.
Once you have done this let the computer boot with the backtrack cd in the drive and it should boot into it instead of windows.
If it comes up windows then you have done something wrong.

No i am doing everything right.I've mentioned my cdrom as first boot and i guess i told you that i am getting some text loading like this after the name of the creator peter or something and then this line (if i am not wrong)
Code:boot.....vmlinuz.gz boot....initdrg.gz (if i am not wrong)

If your md5sum is showing as 058492d64d1831d445af0a36e8fc5fb8, it means you have a corrupted download.
Therefore, unfortunately you have to download it again.

alright tell me one thing guys.Should i remove one OS,because i am already having two OS.One is fedora and another one is Windows and i dont have any space left too.So space is a problem or what.Because i had verified and did verified again.But its still the same,i am having DELL INSPIRON 630M lappy.Thanks for the instant replies guys.I am not going to close this forum today.lol.
yeah i already doubt it mr. wolf.My excitement always make everything a mess.Lol,because i was so excited downloading that file that i couldnt wait to download it by firefox and i downloaded through download manager.Better i download again.But if you could suggest me which version i should go for ,the stable bt2 or bt3 beta.Thank you
